Our Evidence-Based Approach to Sustainable School Transport

At Green School Runs, our mission is to develop and promote sustainable school transport solutions that reduce air pollution and give families - and children traveling independently - more viable, safer travel options.

We understand that schools, councils, and communities operate under tight time and resource constraints. That’s why we are committed to proposing only evidence-based, data-driven solutions that have real impact and are achievable within existing capacities.

Why Data Matters

Since our founding, we have been actively involved in air quality monitoring projects to better understand the specific challenges posed by school-related traffic.

In Autumn 2025, we are launching a year-long study to monitor both air quality and traffic patterns across different times of the school calendar - during term time, holidays, and crucially, during periods when independent schools are closed but state schools remain open.

We believe this data will highlight the significant impact that private school journeys have on local congestion and pollution - a burden that is often underestimated.

Turning Insight into Action

Armed with this information, we will collaborate with local authorities, schools, and parent communities to identify and implement the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to the school run challenge.

Our goal is not just to gather data, but to use it to drive real, scalable change that benefits both the local area and serves as a model for other communities across the UK.
