Cycling on
Hampstead Heath

Hampstead Heath is a highly valued wild park in North London.

Green School Runs fully supports City of London and the Hampstead Heath Committee in their efforts to protect and preserve this park. However, we believe the local community would meaningfully benefit from opening up a few more paths to cycling during school run times. This would offer many families and young students the possibility of cycling through the park to reach their place of education, thus increasing active travel journeys and reducing traffic congestion and pollution in the roads surrounding the park - which, incidentally, do not offer safe cycling options.

In this campaign, we have followed in the footsteps of Camden Cyclists, who have campaigned to increase the numbers of shared use paths on Hampstead Heath for many years.  More information on this campaign, including a larger version of the map on the left which identifies the paths that we believe should be opened up to cycling during school run times, can be found on this page
